SAS Tips

Send File to TSO
Get to READY prompt
Click on SEND at the top of the page
Host: enter the path and file name you wish to transfer (ex: c:\myfile.txt)
Transfer File: name of the dataset (ex: ‘temp.data’)
Transfer Type:
append – use when transferring data to an existing dataset
text – text only files
binary – files which contain coding only recognizable by programs
Click the ADD TO LIST button
Click the SEND button

Printing Code
In order to print code go to screen TSO PRINTDA ‘dataset name’ DEST(printer destination)

Receive File to TSO :
Get to READY prompt
Click on RECEIVE at the top of the page
Host: name of the dataset you wish to transfer (ex: ‘temp.data’)
Transfer File: enter the path and file name (ex: c:\myfile.txt)
Transfer Type:
append – use when transferring data to an existing dataset
text – text only files

Click the ADD TO LIST button
Click the RECEIVE button

How to Copy From Mainframe into an Application: (such as Lotus Notes or WordPerfect)

Open the application and get to the mainframe screen you will be copying from.

Mark the text you want to copy from the mainframe screenWith the Mouse: Hold the left mouse button down and put a box around the data you want to copy
Keyboard: Place the cursor under the data you want to copy and hold down the Shift key and the right arrow key until what you want copied is in a box.

Press Shift-Delete

Place your cursor where you want to paste the data and press the Paste Icon or Edit-Paste from the menu.

The data is now copied from the mainframe via the clipboard to your application. This process can also be reversed in order to copy from your application into mainframe.

How to Copy From Mainframe to Mainframe

If you want to copy data from any screen in the mainframe to another screen in the mainframe do the following:

Mark the text you want to copy.
With the Mouse: Hold the left mouse button down and put a box around the data you want to copy.
With the Keyboard: Place the cursor under the data you want to copy and hold down the Shift key and the right arrow key until what you want copied is in a box.

Copy the data.
With the Mouse: Click the Copy Icon
With the Keyboard: Press Shift-Delete

Switch to the screen and location you want to copy into.

Paste into the field.
With the Mouse: Click the Paste Icon
With the Keyboard: Press Shift - Insert

Screen Print

In order to screen print from the Emulator, click the PrtScrn icon at the top left of the screen. You can also print just a block of text by marking it first. Mark it by holding down the left mouse button and drawing a block around what you want to be printed. Then click the icon. If you decide you do not want to print what you have just blocked, press the left mouse button once and it will remove the block.
